Frisky Chipmunks and Bare Ground

Kodi and I found a woodland trail that was nearly free of snow. He was keeping an eye on frisky chipmunks, while I was breathing in the smell of bare earth. It seemed a good day to think spring (again).

    The heat day before yesterday actually felt well-deserved, after what seems like a "more normal" winter (compared to last year's). This time of year always confuses me-- I'm never sure when to pack my winter clothes away and start hiking in three-season gear.

    My mom says the ticks are out already in Maine. I guess that's one good indication of spring, eh?
